If you’re married to a Cypriot citizen, you may be eligible to apply for Cypriot citizenship. Whether you live in Cyprus or abroad, here’s a step-by-step guide that breaks it all down for you.
✅ Key Requirements (for Couples Living in Cyprus)
To apply, you must:
- Be married to a Cypriot citizen for at least 3 years.
 - Have lived in Cyprus for at least 2 years before applying.
 
🌍 What If You Live Abroad?
You can still apply, but here’s what changes:
- You must have been married for at least 3 years.
 - You need to submit a signed letter from both spouses explaining why you’re applying for Cypriot citizenship.
 
👉 No letter is needed if:
- You’ve been married 5 years or more, and
 - You have at least one child together.
 
📑 Documents You’ll Need
Make sure all documents are officially translated into Greek or English and certified with an Apostille if they were issued abroad.
Required documents:
- Your birth certificate
 - Your clean criminal record (issued in the last 6 months)
 - Your marriage certificate
 - Your child’s birth certificate (if applicable)
